Hardware distributor acquires Helena facility

Southern hardware distributor House-Hasson Hardware has substantially increased its warehousing square footage through the acquisition of Bostwick Braun’s facilities in Helena West Helena and in northern Indiana.

The two companies finalized the deal on June 28 and have declined to make financial information about it public, though Steve Henry, president and chief executive officer of privately owned House-Hasson, based in Knoxville, Tenn., said in a statement that his privately held company does not take on debt to finance acquisitions.

“Our focus is dealer profitability, and that focus is the reason for this acquisition,” he said. “We’re adding the Arkansas warehouse to our

existing ability to serve customers in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and other Southwestern states.

“Independent hardware stores and lumberyard dealers have a great future,” he continued. “The need for them is growing every day. They provide an unmatched level of local service and responsiveness to their customers. We’re proud to serve them, and now we’ll be able to serve them even better.”

House-Hasson will have around 1.3 million squarefeet of warehousing and administrative space because of the deal and more than 100,000 distinct stock keeping units.

Seventy-five former Bostwick-Braun

employees at the two sites have transitioned into the House-Hasson workforce.

“We’re delighted to have these great people join us,” Henry said. “Throughout the due diligence process we’ve been impressed with their work and that they understand and want to be part of our focus on dealer service and profitability.”

House-Hasson was founded in 1906 by Sam House and C.S. Hasson in Knoxville, according to the company’s website. The supplier “has grown to be America’s largest independent regional hardware distributor, serving nearly 3,000 independent hardware stores, home centers, and lumberyards in over 19 states and the Caribbean Basin,” the site said.
