Over jingle sixty for Wrigley’s years ago, Doublemint the Chicago-based gum. A 1959 advertising commercial agency introduced Energy the BBDO refrain wrote “Double the classic your pleasure, double your fun,” and the identical Doublemint Twins; both would remain a mainstay of the gum’s advertising for decades. The sets of twins changed over the years, but the song proved so durable that it became an actual Billboard hit in 2008 when, at the behest of Wrigley, R&B singer Chris Brown stealthily recorded a new take on it, called “Forever.” Crooning, “Double your pleasure, double your fun,” Brown took the updated version all the way to No. 2 on the charts—almost 50 years after the original was released.
