Victim ID’d in fatal LR mall shooting
ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE
Police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting at Park Plaza in Little Rock on Monday.
Cynthia Gregory, 47, was found shot near the mall and later died at a local hospital from her injuries, said Mark Edwards, a spokesman for the Little Rock Police Department.
Officers responded to the shooting at 6000 W. Markham St. around 6:11 p.m. on Monday, police said in a post on Facebook.
“We are heartbroken about the incident on Monday evening, and our deepest sympathies are with the victim, her family, and friends,” Park Plaza said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We continue to work diligently to assist Little Rock Police in their ongoing investigation. Over the past several years, Park Plaza has made significant investments into the center, including enhancements to security infrastructure, resources, and operations. We also continue to work actively with local leaders, Little Rock Police, and other first responders to further enhance safety at the property and in our community. We are focused on providing our guests, tenants, and employees a safe place to shop, gather, and work. Their safety and well-being remains our highest priority.”
Monday’s shooting came just two months after a shooting at the mall on Black Friday that left two people wounded.
Antonio Coleman Jr., 18, was arrested in that shooting, which police said “stemmed from a disturbance between two individuals,” on Dec. 5 on two counts of criminal attempted murder. Both victims’ injuries in that shooting were described as nonlife-threatening.
Police had not publicly identified any suspects in the latest shooting as of Tuesday evening.
