Arkansas State Police this week arrested a Texarkana man who worked as a volunteer coach and is now charged with having sexually explicit contact with a child and possessing child sexual abuse material, the state police said Friday.

Investigators determined that Alejandro Mendoza, 34, had been exchanging inappropriate photos with minors after Nevada County authorities referred a citizen complaint about Mendoza to state police agents in July, according to a state police news release.

Authorities booked Mendoza into the Nevada County jail on Wednesday on felony counts of engaging children in sexually explicit conduct and possessing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, the release states.

Mendoza was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond while state police continue the investigation, and authorities expect to file more charges against him, the release states.
